Sony's Playstation 3 console, released on November 11, 2006, forever changed the video gaming industry. The Playstation 3 console combines many different consumer electronics into one package. Also, the included Wi-Fi connection works with Sony's PSP (Playstation Portable) handheld system, allowing PSP owners to connect to the Internet and browse web sites anywhere within hundreds of feet from the Playstation 3 console.
Thousands of Games
The first two incarnations of the Playstation contain a library of thousands of games, and because Sony has used optical drives on all three of them (CD, DVD, and now Blu-ray) and the Cell processor is powerful enough to compute those previous game engines, the Playstation 3 console features full backwards compatibility. Users can continue to play their games from ten years ago without breaking out their Playstation 1. Also, the Playstation 3 offers some great upcoming titles. Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma are sure to be huge blockbusters.
This console is an absolute bargain with its capabilities which would cost thousands of dollars separately. With its ability to play most popular movie and audio formats in addition to browsing the Internet and playing thousands of game titles, the Playstation 3 console can be the centerpiece of every home entertainment system.
